Privacy Policy

Your use of App is subject to this GO (formerly MOV) and JapanTaxi Privacy Policy (hereinafter referred to as the “Policy”), in addition to the GO (formerly MOV) and JapanTaxi Terms of Use.
For the purposes of this Policy, the term “User Information” means information for the identification of the User, the history of actions on communication services, and other information generated or accumulated on the User’s smartphone, PC, or other devices in connection with the User or his/her device, and includes without limitation the following information that may be collect by the Company under this Policy.
The definitions of all capitalized terms not otherwise defined in this Policy are subject to the Terms of Use mentioned above.

1. User Information to Be Collected and Methods of Collection

The Company will use to collect User Information as follows.

  1. (1) Information provided by the User:
    1. 1.name;
    2. 2.telephone number;
    3. 3.email address;
    4. 4.date of birth;
    5. 5.gender;
    6. 6.(if the User a wheelchair user) the User’s status as a wheelchair user;
    7. 7.credit card information or information on any other payment method; and
    8. 8.any other information entered by the User in the Company’s entry form.
  2. (2) Information automatically collected through the App:
    1. 9.location information (including current location, places of embarkation, destinations, transit points, orientation of device, and GPS information; the same applies hereinafter) (“Location Information”);
    2. 10.information on the device (including individual device identification number, OS information and version, hardware model, and ad placement ID);
    3. 11.cookie information;
    4. 12.communication line information (including line type (i.e., Wi-Fi or LTE), signal strength, and line speed; the same applies hereinafter) (“Communications Line Information”);
    5. 13.log information (including behavior of the App related to activation/shutdown, access dates and times, and IP address from which access was performed);
    6. 14.app information (including version of the App); and
    7. 15.engagement information (including usage history, such as information on app activation by the User, and history of response to app-related advertisements).
  3. (3) Information obtained from Taxi Companies, advertisement agencies, businesses whose services are linked with the App, and other third parties (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Partners”):
    1. 16.Location Information, images taken in taxis, taxi allocation ID, etc. obtained from vehicle-mounted devices of Taxi Companies; and
    2. 17.action history information, attribute information, etc. appropriately collected by Alliance Partners.
      The Company will use information provided by its Alliance Partners within the scope of the intended purposes listed in the following article, by linking it with User Information in the possession of the Company. However, the images taken in taxis as referred to in (p) above will be used solely for the purpose set forth in 2-1(6).

2. Utilization Purposes

2-1 User Information collected by the Company will be used within the scope of the following purposes:

  1. (1) To accept applications for registration, verify personal identification and authentication, allocate taxis, calculate and bill usage fees, and otherwise provide, maintain, protect, and improve the Services.
  2. (2) To provide promotional information, respond to inquiries and the like, and provide after-sales services.
  3. (3) To deal with acts that violate the Company’s terms, policies, etc. (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Terms”).
  4. (4) To give notice of amendments and the like to any of the Terms.
  5. (5) To provide User Information to the relevant Taxi Company and other businesses to the extent necessary for achievement of taxi allocation in response to a taxi allocation request or for completion of payment of the Taxi Fare, etc. or Cancellation Fee and the like.
  6. (6) To maintain, and deal with failures or the like of, the systems for the Services.
  7. (7) To conduct questionnaire surveys, prize competitions, promotional campaigns, etc. for or regarding the Services and provide affiliate and point services and the like related to the Services.
  8. (8) To improve, or add new functions to, the Services and other services and the like operated by the Company and do research and development to provide the Company’s new services and the like.
  9. (9) To advertise and promote, and do marketing (including sending direct mail and emails) for, the Services and other services and the like operated by the Company and services and the like operated by third parties.
  10. (10) To conduct surveys and analyses and other marketing analyses of the usage of the Services (including utilizing analytical results in marketing by such means as processing them to a non-personally identifiable form and providing the processed results to third parties) and other surveys and analyses.
  11. (11) To provide members with high-interest information by providing the User’s attribute information (such as gender, date of birth, and post code) in a non-personally identifiable form.
  12. (12) To sell, solicit to sell, ship, and provide services for, the Company’s and third parties’ goods, services, etc. (including tours and insurance and other financial products; the same applies hereinafter) (“Services, Etc.”).
  13. (13) To provide payment services and logistics services.
  14. (14) Any utilization purpose incidental to any of the above utilization purposes.

3. Third-Party Tracking Systems

(1) To monitor the usage of the App and the like by Users, JapanTaxi uses: Google LLC’s Firebase and GoogleAnalytics services; Adjust GmbH’s adjust; Repro Inc.’s Repro; Mixpanel, Inc.’s Mixpanel; FullStory, Inc.’s FullStory; and PLAID Inc.’s KARTE. 4. Provision to Third Parties

4-1 Each User agrees in advance that the Company will provide personal data of the User to third parties in the following cases. Except in the following cases or where permitted by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (hereinafter referred to as “APPI”) or any other law, the Company will not provide personal data of the User to any third party without the prior consent of the User.

  1. (1) Where personal data of the User is provided to Taxi Companies or the like
    The User requests, in advance, that the Company provide User Information of the User to Taxi Companies, payment service providers, etc. (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Taxi Companies, etc.”) to the extent necessary for achievement of taxi allocation, completion of payment of Taxi Fares, etc. or Cancellation Fee and the like, and handling of reports of, and inquiries about, lost property received after the User has been dropped off. In response to such request, the Company will provide User Information of the User to Taxi Companies, etc. on behalf of the User.
  2. (2) Where personal data of the User is provided to Partners whose services have been linked (including without limitation linking the App with mileage status or a Partner’s membership status) with the App by the User, to the extent necessary to link the App with the relevant services.
  3. (3) Where the User has made a taxi allocation request using the GO BUSINESS function and where personal data of the User is provided to the corporation or organization to which the User belongs, to the extent necessary to provide the GO BUSINESS function.
  4. (4) Where the User has taken a taxi using a Coupon or ticket provided by a Partner and where personal data of the User is provided to the provider of such Coupon or ticket to the extent necessary to check the usage thereof.

4-2 Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, if the Company intends to provide personal information of the User to third parties (excluding persons who have put in place systems that meet the standards specified by the rules of the Personal Information Protection Commission under Article 28 of the APPI) located in foreign countries (excluding countries designated by rules of the Personal Information Protection Commission under Article 28 of the APPI), the Company shall obtain the prior consent of the User for the Company’s provision of such personal data to third parties located in foreign countries, unless such provision is permitted by the APPI or any other law.

4-3 Where the Company provides personal data to a third party, the Company will create and retain a record thereof pursuant to Article 29 of the APPI.

4-4 Where the Company receives personal data from a third party, the Company will perform a necessary check and create and retain a record of such check pursuant to Article 30 of the APPI.

5. Joint use

The Company will jointly use User Information as follows to the extent that it has been collected by the GO app:

5-1 Jointly use with Professor Yasutora Watanabe’s laboratory at the Graduate School of Economics at the University of Tokyo

  1. (1) Items of personal data to be shared:
    Information on pickup and drop-off locations used by taxis allocated using the GO app.
  2. (2) Scope of shared users:
    Professor Yasutora Watanabe’s laboratory at the Graduate School of Economics at the University of Tokyo
  3. (3) Utilization purpose:
    To develop new services and new functions.
  4. (4) Name, address, and representative of the entity responsible for the management of shared personal data:
    Mobility Technologies Co., Ltd.

5-2 Jointly use with group companies

  1. (1) Items of personal data to be shared:
    User Information as defined in this Policy.
  2. (2) Scope of shared users:
    Group companies. The term “group companies” means the Company’s subsidiary companies and affiliated companies (which respectively mean “subsidiary companies” and “affiliated companies” as referred to in the Regulation on Terminology, Forms, and Preparation Methods of Financial Statements).
  3. (3) Utilization purpose:
    To provide and improve, and do marketing for, group companies’ Services, Etc., and to consider new Services, etc.
  4. (4) Name, address, and representative of the entity responsible for the management of shared personal data:
    Mobility Technologies Co., Ltd.

6. Disclosure of Personal Information

If the Company is requested by a User to disclose his/her personal information under the provisions of the APPI, the Company will make the requested disclosure to the User without delay after checking that the request is made by the User himself/herself (if the requested personal information does not exist, the Company will notify the User thereof). However, the foregoing does not apply if the Company is not required by the APPI or any other law to make such disclosure. Please be advised in advance that the Company charges fees for disclosure of personal information (1,000 yen per request).

7. Correction and Cessation of Use of Personal Information

7-1 If the Company is requested by a User to (1) correct his/her personal information under the provisions of the APPI on the grounds that such personal information is not true, or (2) cease the use of his/her personal information under the provisions of the APPI on the grounds that such personal information has been handled beyond the scope of the utilization purpose disclosed in advance, or that such personal information was collected by fraud or other unjust means, or that such personal information has been provided to third parties without the User’s consent, then the Company will conduct necessary investigation after checking that the request is made by the User himself/herself, and will, based on the results of the investigation, correct such personal information or cease the use thereof, as the case may be, followed by notification thereof to the User. If the Company decides not to correct such personal information or not to cease the use thereof on reasonable grounds, the Company will notify the User thereof.

7-2 If the Company is requested by a User to erase his/her personal information and if the Company considers it necessary to comply with such request, then the Company will erase such personal information after checking that the request is made by the User himself/herself and will notify the User thereof.

7-3 If the Company is not required by the APPI or any other law to correct personal information or cease the use thereof or take such other action, the provisions of the preceding two paragraphs do not apply.

8. Anonymously Processed Information

8-1 Where the Company intends to produce anonymously processed information (which means “anonymously processed information” as defined in Article 2, paragraph (6) of the APPI, and limited to information constituting an anonymously processed information database as defined in Article 16, paragraph (6) of the APPI; the same applies hereinafter), the Company will create such anonymously processed information by processing the relevant personal information in accordance with the standards established by rules of the Personal Information Protection Commission.

8-2 Where the Company produces anonymously processed information, the Company will take action for security control in accordance with the standards established by the rules of the Personal Information Protection Commission.

8-3 Where the Company produces anonymously processed information, the Company will, as required by rules of the Personal Information Protection Commission, disclose the items of information on individuals contained in such anonymously processed information.

8-4 Where the Company intends to provide anonymously processed information (including anonymously processed information produced by the Company and provided by third parties to the Company; the same applies hereinafter unless otherwise specified) to third parties, the Company will, as required by rules of the Personal Information Protection Commission, disclose in advance (i) the items of information on individuals contained in the anonymously processed information to be provided to third parties and (ii) the method of such provision, and will clearly identify to such third parties the information so provided to them as anonymously processed information.

8-5 When handling anonymously processed information, the Company will not do any of the following to identify the User to whom the personal information used to produce the anonymously processed information is relevant: (1) collating the anonymously processed information with any other information or (2) acquiring (i) any descriptions or the like or any individual identification codes deleted from such personal information or (ii) information on the method of the processing performed pursuant to the provisions of Article 36, paragraph (1) of the APPI (provided that (2) above applies only if such anonymously processed information is provided by a third party).

8-6 The Company will strive to take itself action necessary and appropriate for the security control of anonymously processed information and action necessary to ensure the handling of complaints about the production or other handling of anonymously processed information, and to otherwise ensure the proper handling of anonymously processed information, and will strive to make public the details of such action.

10. Procedure for Amendment of Privacy Policy

The Company will strive to continuously improve the handling of User Information by appropriately reviewing such handling, and may amend this Policy where necessary. If this Policy is amended, the Company will notify Users thereof by announcing it on the Company’s website or by any other means prescribed by the Company. However, in case of any amendment for which the consent of Users would be required by law, the Company shall obtain the consent of Users by the means prescribed by the Company.

※In the event of any conflict or inconsistency between the Japanese version and any other language version of this Policy, the Japanese version shall prevail.
